about
'You & Me Against The World' defines what the album is about. The song was actually called 'Where We Belong' right up until the last days of production. It's more produced, with synths, effects and more vocals and is the song the band spent the most time on. It takes you back to what 'Walking Disaster' and 'The Future Awaits' deals with. We almost see it as 'Part 3 of the journey of finding yourself'! The narrator realizes that in order to be happy, he must run away from the people who and the places that have made him miserable. There's no turning back; he has burned a few bridges and must find a place or something to belong to.
We wrote this song after realizing that the city of Montreal, where we're from, might not be the best place to be at if we want to make it as rock musicians. There are a lot of truly awesome bands right now that are from here, but since Simple Plan, we haven't really seen any Rock acts. We have often felt like there was no place for a band like us in Montreal. We're just too heavy to be in the big Indie scene and not heavy enough to be in the big Hardcore scene. That being said, we intend to prove ourselves wrong. We'll always see Montreal as our home and we plan on becoming "that loud-five-piece-three-guitar Rock band from Montreal" you'll one day hear bout! Fingers crossed!
lyrics
No looking back now
It’s way too late to change our minds
And bridges are burning down
There’s nothing good for us
In what we leave behind
We won’t be missed won’t even be remembered
It’s not about erasing
Anything we’ve written
It’s not about regret or denial
This is about
Writing a whole new chapter
To the story of how we made it out alive
‘Cause we’ll make it out alive
And we’ll run away
Because this town just can’t be where we belong
Yet we know that one day we will find a place
Hell, what do we know we might be wrong
But we’ll make sure to find out for ourselves
I remember the look on their faces
Jaded and full of hatred
As if we weren’t supposed to be (As if we weren’t supposed to be)
So now it’s you and me (you and me)
And we’ll never be like them so let’s find a
Place where we won’t have to be afraid
CHORUS
It’s you and me against the world
You and me against the world (‘Cause this town just can’t be where we belong)
It’s you and me against the world
You and me against the world
And we’ll make it if you hold on to me
CHORUS
