about
'The Future Awaits' picks up where 'Walking Disaster' left off with the lines: "So rally your troops boy, you're due for a change". If 'Walking Disaster' focussed more on realizing what you have done, 'The Future Awaits' focusses more on the "let's make things better!" part. The first half of it is very organic, almost folk-ish. The second half of the song is our homage to every single super-fast Blink or Paramore or "gang-shout" part of a Four Year Strong song we've listened to that made us say "Fuck Yeah!". With the whole band singing, it makes this song a very motivational and unifying one. Everybody needs to take a breather after this one!
lyrics
So rally your troops, boy
You’re due for a change
It’s been a long time coming
And now it’s time for better days
Oh! The future awaits
So what are you made of?
Now don’t let me down
It’s been a long time coming
And now it’s time to find your way
Oh! This is your fate
‘Cause all your pain and sorrow
Will be resolved and no more
Than fuel for a better tomorrow
Where you can finally feel alive
And all your tears and worries
Will vanish as you savor your victory
And learning from the worst of all your memories
You’ll walk away and finally see
You’ve found a way to survive
I see you’ve rallied your troops boy
Now you get a chance
It’s been a long time coming
Now go and fight for your better days
Oh! The future awaits
So tell me what are you made of?
You better not let me down
It’s been a long time coming
So now it’s time to find your way
Oh! This is your fate
‘Cause all the pain and sorrow
Will be resolved and no more
Than fuel for a better tomorrow
And all your tears and worries
Will vanish as you savor your victory
And learning from the worst of your memories
You’ll walk away
From the worst part of your life
And towards your better days
Yeah you’ll walk away
From the worst part of your life
And towards your better days
The future awaits
